The following is the official Irish entry for the next Eurovision song contest. I was aware that those guys up there know how to drink but I didn’t know that it’s that bad already. Lyrics are here. (kudos to Mark for sending me the links)

Ireland – gone mad?
Thursday, February 28th, 2008Weak US economy/currency
Wednesday, February 27th, 2008What a bad day yesterday. The USD is now for the first time ever over 1.50 compared to the EUR and I have to start thinking about every trip back to Europe and spending money there as it seems I can’t afford it any more… and furthermore all my shares were going down as well this week. Now it can only get better (at least there is hope – what goes down must go up again
).

Jazz, Wicked and Helicopter ride
Saturday, February 23rd, 2008Since I’ve been on vacation last week and really lazy updating my blog recently here are a couple of short sentences about what we did during this last week. On Tuesday we went to the Jazz concert again where I’ve already been last week and had a couple of drinks with my buddy Steve afterwards. Wednesday night was musical night and we went to “Wicked” and although we were both exhausted and tired of walking around through central park an Manhattan during the whole day and had a hard time not falling asleep we really enjoyed the great show. Highly recommended! One of the highlights of the last week was definitely on Thursday night where we took a helicopter ride along Manhattan Island going over the Hudson river down to the Statue of Liberty and back up to the upper west side. This is a must do whenever you are in NYC! Below is a short video where you can see Downtown Manhattan and Ground Zero (yes, the girl sitting next to the pilot is the mysterious one
)

Was fuer ein Sauwetter!
Wednesday, February 13th, 2008Monday in Manhattan was feeling like being in a refrigerator, yesterday it was snowing like hell and today it’s raining cats and dogs which means that water is coming from the top, from the side, from the bottom and there is still the rest of the snow on the streets and after walking to the office I’m soaked. What’s next? I promise, I’ve eaten up yesterday!
A very enjoyable Jazz evening
Wednesday, February 13th, 2008A friend of mine called me yesterday and asked me if I would like to come to the Algonquin hotel and see the premiere of one of the shows he is currently playing. And whenever Steve is calling me and asking me to see him play and hang out with him there is no way I would ever say no. So he put my name on the guest list (as it was more a kind of private show in front of a limited crowd) and John (my roommate) and I went there to see this amazing vocalist and Grammy winner Lari White performing a variety of love songs in the Oak Room’s Valentine Show called “Love Letters”. It was so wonderful….
Afterwards we met Lari and Steve in the hotel lobby and had a couple of drinks with them. Such wonderful persons…I really enjoyed this evening.
Anyways, here are some pictures of Steve and me. I forgot to take a picture of Lari
and I couldn’t take pics of the show.
Steve, if you are reading this: Thank you for this enjoyable evening!
Let it snow (in Manhattan)
Tuesday, February 12th, 2008So this morning started cold but sunny and this is Ground Zero as seen from our office this morning:
But after walking over to a client to the opposite side in the WFC it started snowing and unfortunately didn’t stop until tonight. The first picture is Ground Zero as seen from the other side this afternoon and the other one is the view out of our apartment tonight:
